Take What You Carry

A story of what can be taken versus what can be owned.

A pirate arrives on a lush tropical island and discovers a world of extraordinary beauty. There is gold, abundant vegetation, clear water, and a community whose life has unfolded there for generations. To the visitor, the island offers possibilities. To its people, it is simply home.
As the pirate encounters the islanders, their elders, warriors, and children, two very different understandings of wealth begin to emerge. Eventually, he is told it is time to leave. He loads his ship with gold and supplies and prepares for the voyage home.
But what does it really mean to take something from a place? And what remains long after the ship has sailed?
Take What You Can Carry is an illustrated story accompanied by an original song and music video from PiP Art Studio. It explores the difference between discovering a place and possessing it, and of the things we carry away that cannot be measured in gold.
